Staying hydrated is very important. Our body is approximately 60% water. It is especially important to replenish your body after a workout; due to the accelerated loss through perspiration.

1) DRINK A GLASS OF WATER WHEN YOU FIRST WAKE UP

When you wake up first thing in the morning, try drinking a glass of water. It’s great for flushing the body of toxins. Plus, it starts you off on the right foot of getting at least 8-16 ounces first thing in the morning.

2) FIND A WATER BOTTLE OR CUP YOU LOVE

If you find a water bottle or cup you love, you will be more apt to use it! I take my water bottle with me almost everywhere I go.

3) Use the Potato Chip Theory

When I have a full water bottle with me throughout the day, I view it as the potato chip theory. For example, if there is a whole bag of potato chips sitting beside someone, it is known that most will mindlessly eat them and not pay attention to the quantity consumed. While not a healthy habit for the consumption of potato chips, it can be turned into a healthy habit for drinking water. I leverage this strategy by always having my water bottle next to me. I have found that while I am working or completing a task I continue to sip on it throughout the day without much thought.
